PINK is the Color of the Year?! (Curated Content)

I can't be the only one who didn't know that the color of the year (in fashion, that is) is PINK? Trend analysis giant WGSN shared their color choice called "orchid flower" as 2022's color of the year. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, pastel pink shades dominated the fashion market. Now, all eyes are on more vibrant and darker shades for digital-friendly catwalks and social media posts. For spring and summer 2023, WGSN is keeping tabs on a continual slow rise of pink in clothing.

WGSN shared that while pastels still hold the highest contribution across the shades of pink, the market has been mixing into bright and medium tones in recent seasons.

As you can see, I completely agree with Orchid Flower as the 2022 color of the year. For the first day of my junior year of college, I rocked this top from Express in that same shade! While normally associated with the spring season, I stepped out of my comfort zone to rock a color like this in the fall season (though it felt like summer still).

Branching out from my nearly black color scheme felt right when following a color trend like this one. Pink has been traditionally feminine for a long time, and with my shorter haircut I feel the need to continue to connect with my femininity like this! As color trends change all the time, having a staple like this that happens to fall into the trend is a nice treat.
