The Art of the "Work Bag"

Maybe it's just me, but when I picture a powerful business-person headed into the office, they always have the perfect bag to go with their outfit and their aura. This is especially true for the "girl boss" types with the impressive handbag that holds everything they could possibly need! Let's dive into the nitty gritty of what makes a successful work bag.

The Look

The perfect work bag matches every outfit, so to choose the best one you must first take a look at your personal style. For example, I wear a lot of dark colors and I only wear silver jewelry. For me, it would not make a lot of sense to choose a white bag with gold hardware! However, this is also an opportunity to choose a unique statement piece to pair with every outfit. If you love red, find something red!

The Features

In my opinion, the perfect work bag needs the following features:

• easy to clean fabric

• long enough straps to go over my shoulder

• FEET! (so the fabric doesn't sit on the ground!)

• at least two inside compartments

• and be large enough to hold my laptop inside!

This may seem like a large shoe to fit for just a bag, but if I am going to be investing over a hundred dollars into a purse, it has to be perfect.

The Contents

Now, the contents of your work bag are entirely up to you, but here is what I keep with me every day.

• my laptop (duh)

• a pen/pencil case and post-it notes

• Band-aids

• medication (I'm talking ibuprofen and Benadryl)

• feminine care products (no matter the time of the month!)

• headphones

• phone/laptop chargers

• chapstick

And so much more depending on the day. So, you can see why I have such high standards for my work bag! This is not a science, this is an art. Everyone carries something different with them, and everyone has their own reasons for choosing it. I hope you find what works best for you!
